Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is a hybrid all-wheel drive crossover of the ‘K2’ class. A restyled model built based on the third generation. The car was unveiled globally at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2018.
The modernization of the car is extensive because it affected not only Outlander’s appearance but also its powertrain. Firstly, the two-liter atmospheric engine has now been replaced by a 2.4-liter Atkinson-cycle engine. It produces 135 hp and 211 Nm of torque. Secondly, the rear electric motor’s output has been increased from 82 to 95 bhp, with the same 195 Nm of torque (the front one has 82 bhp). Third, the traction battery capacity was increased from 12 to 13.8 kW∙h. These innovations have increased the flexibility of the hybrid power unit (80-100 km / h – for 3.7 seconds instead of 4.3 seconds) and the maximum speed when driving on pure electricity (135 vs. 125 km / h), as well as – acceleration dynamics (10.5 s to 10.8 s) On the cycle NEDC driving range Outlander PHEV is 54 km per charge, fuel consumption in the combined cycle (on the same scale) – 1.8 liters per “hundredth.
As for charging the Outlander PHEV, the lithium-ion battery from a household socket can be filled in 5.5 hours, and with CHAdeMO – in 25 minutes to 80%. The energy recovery system can be controlled by varying its intensity using the paddles in five modes. It is also possible to use the traction battery as a power source (Vehicle to the Home system).
